Let’s Fix the Misalignment of Acquirement of Requirements
By: Mike Vietti
Rhymes are fun!
What’s even more fun is getting squared away on the necessary requirements to secure your next great job. While that might not be the most exciting thing you’ve ever done, having your requirements in order will put you in the best position to secure a travel contract, a direct hire position, an emergency deployment or a per diem shift.
Many facilities around the country require certification by The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (often shortened to The Joint Commission or JCAHO). The stated mission of The Joint Commission is to “continuously improve health care for the public, in collaboration with other stakeholders, by evaluating health care organizations and inspiring them to excel in providing safe and effective care of the highest quality and value.”
A significant portion of the certification process for facilities and recruiting organizations administered by The Joint Commission involves healthcare staff possessing required documentation.
To be certain, there are positions that require more documentation and positions that require less documentation. But, generally, there is a minimum list of requirements. For Krucial Rapid Response, the list of requirements is split into two categories: prior to submittal and after a contract is accepted.
List of requirements in order to be submitted for a position:
- Current resume
- License/certification verification
- 2 completed references
- Completed skills checklist
- BLS and other certifications required by specialty
- Photo ID
List of requirements once a contract is accepted:
- Competency Exams
- JCAHO Mandatories
- TB Test or Chest X-Ray + Questionnaire
- MMR Titer or Shot Record (declinations not accepted)
- Flu Immunization (seasonal/ declinations accepted)
- Physical (completed within the last 12 months)
- Hep B Titer or Shot Record (declinations accepted)
- Varicella Titer or Shot Record (declinations accepted)
- Clear 10-Year Criminal Background Check (CBC)
- Clear Drug Screen
Is it beneficial to have most of these items already completed and to maintain a set schedule of updating them as necessary? Yes!
A great place to store that documentation and to keep your information current is within Krucial’s database system. The more current your profile, the more likely you are to be matched to your next great job!
